It's really not that our lives have become less interesting, because they haven't. Or maybe they have and I'm just in denial. I've missed my old friend, "the blog". I'm sure Nate hasn't really missed me obsessing over the what, where, when's, why's and how's of posting. But I sure have missed the obsession. January was lonely for me, while Nate traveled nearly 3 weeks out of the month. February was great though, and shown below is ONE of the reasons why...
Nate got this for me!!! I had an Aunt once that was incredibly feministic. She got in a fight with my Dad because he bought a sewing machine for my mother for their first Christmas. Well this is my SECOND Valentines Day, and I couldn't have been MORE THRILLED!
The first projects included LOTS of mending and simple alterations, baby blankets, a scripture case made out of a placemat, and the MOST important....
... a summer dress for my niece Brooke for her birthday/Easter, even though it got to her too late for both. : ( Oh well, pick your battles, right? Next to tackle, A QUILT... about ten times more difficult than that dress, but I'm pumped!!
Here is one other thing that we have been doing a lot lately.... dipping chocolates. Wow, that's the LAST thing we should be doing as we try to shed our 'winter coats'. Anyways, here's the recipe for THE most AMAZINGLY easy, most delectable things you've ever tasted.
Oreo Balls
2 8 oz. packages Cream Cheese
1 ENTIRE package Double-Stuffed Oreos
Powered Sugar [to taste and texture]
1 BIG bag Milk Chocolate Chips
1/2 small big White Chocolate Chips
Crush up oreos in a large ziplock bag. With a mixer, combine oreos and cream cheese. Add powdered sugar to thicken the mixture. Chill. With hands covered in powdered sugar, roll into balls. Chill again. Melt milk chocolate. Dip chilled oreo balls in chocolate. Place on wax paper. Let cool. Melt white chocolate. Drizzle for decorative touch [we failed to take a picture of the finished product ].
In the meantime, NATE has been developing OTHER talents as well!! ...

LOVE the blog; totally understand the sabbatical--we're in one too! Great dress. Can't wait to see Brooke in it.
And Nate's talent for flipping crepes behind his back is HILARIOUS!
Always love a peek into your fun lives!
Hugs and love,
--Dad
I'm totally jealous! I just told Dane that the next big purchase I'd like would be a sewing machine! I'm impressed with that dress you made. My skills include sewing two pieces of cloth together... That's it! :)
Good job Luisa!! I've been trying to improve my sewing skills lately too!! Thanks for that recipe--those sound/look soooo yummy!!!
Hey Luisa! Today is Dolan's birthday and his all-time favorite treat is oreos, so I just finished making the Oreo balls to surprise him when he gets home! They are delish!!! Thanks for sharing.
